Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts look to tune up for the 2009-10 NFL season when they face the Detroit Lions at Ford Field Saturday at 1PM ET on the NFL Network.

Both teams come into this preseason game having split their first two contests.
Indianapolis is coming off a 23-15 win over

Philadelphia last week. Manning looked to be in regular season form in the win, as he threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns on 10-of-14 passing. Reggie Wayne was the main beneficiary of Manning’s arm, catching two passes for 90 yards and a touchdown.

Indianapolis did only manage 63 yards rushing in the game, with Joseph Addai carrying the ball just two times for 11 yards.

The Lions are coming off a 27-10 loss to

Cleveland where Matthew Stafford struggled in his first start, throwing an interception on his first pass and finishing with 34 yards passing with a quarterback rating of 14.6. The Lions have announced that Daunte Culpepper will start against the Colts, but both he and Stafford are expected to get snaps with the first team. Calvin Johnson has yet to play in the preseason with an injured hand and is questionable for Saturday’s game, while first round pick Brandon Pettigrew is expected to make his Lions debut after missing the first two games with a hamstring injury.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Colts 3-point road favorites over the Lions. The over/under total for this game has been set at 40.

The trends look to be on the side of the Colts as they are 1-0 straight up against

Detroit in the last three seasons. The Colts are also 23-8 with the over in August road games while the Lions are 2-11 against the spread off back-to-back ATS losses.

With this being the third preseason game, the starters on both teams will likely play the entire first half. The Colts offense has been a juggernaut for years while the Lions defense is still a work in progress under new coach Jim Schwartz.
