It will be a west coast battle Saturday night when the Arizona Cardinals host the San Diego Chargers in preseason action from

University of
Phoenix Stadium.

San Diego hasn’t held back in playing their top stars in the preseason thus far. In the Chargers’ 20-14 loss to

Seattle last week, LaDainian Tomlinson, Phillip Rivers, Antonio Gates, and Shawne Merriman all played. Tomlinson carried the ball four times for 10 yards while Darren Sproles also had four carries for 11 yards. Rivers threw for just 26 yards on 5-of-8 passing while Charlie Whitehurst threw for 193 yards on 15-of-29 passing with one touchdown and two interceptions. Rookie linebacker Larry English will miss Saturday’s game with a left hamstring injury.

The backup quarterback battle has been the main storyline in
Arizona as Matt Leinart threw for 83 yards on 8-of-14 passing last week in a 20-10 loss to

Pittsburgh, while Brian St. Pierre was 4-for-10 passing for 42 yards and one interception. Steve Breaston continued to impress, as he caught five passes for 52 yards in the loss. Rookie running back Chris Wells is still nursing an injured ankle and may miss his second-straight game for

Arizona.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Redskins 3-point favorites in this contest. The over/under total has been set at 33.

San Diego is 9-1 against the spread after a home loss and the Chargers are 1-0 straight up against

Arizona in the last three years, with that game also going over.
