Fight Hunger Bowl Odds
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (TheSpread) β The final bowl game prior to the BCS Championship is the Fight Hunger Bowl on Sunday night as Boston College takes on No. 13 Nevada.
Nevada is 12-1 on the season and 7-6 against the point spread odds while Boston College is 7-5 on the season and 5-6 against the spread. The two teams have combined to go under the point total in 16 of 23 lined games. Trends show that Boston College is 0-4 against the point spread odds in their last 4 bowl games while Nevada is just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 bowl games.
Oddsmakers from online sportsbook SBGGLOBAL.com have given Nevada point spread odds of -7.5 against Boston College on Sunday night. The over/under total has been set at 54 points. (View Matchup)
Opening odds had Nevada favored by 9.5 points. The spread never got larger than that as it quickly dropped and settled in at 7.5 points. The over/under total opened at 55 points and held strong for most of the layoff but changed to 54 points just prior to the game.
Nevada was the only team to beat Boise State this season as it shared the WAC title with the Broncos. The lone loss for the Wolf pack was 27-21 at Hawaii. Nevada has one of the top offenses in the nation as it averages 42.6 points and over 535 yards of offense per game. As a team, Nevada rushes for over 300 yards per game on average. Vai Taua has rushed for 1,522 yards and 19 touchdowns while quarterback Colin Kaepernick has rushed for 1,091 yards and 20 touchdowns while passing for 2,830 yards and 20 scores. Defensively, Nevada is holding opponents to 22.1 points per game.
Boston College won its last five games after a 2-5 start to the season. The Eagles had all their losses come against other bowl teams. BC hasnβt been an offensive power as it averages just 18.9 points per game, but the defense holds opponents to 19.5 points per contest. The strength of the defense has been against the run as it gives up just 80.2 rushing yards per game. On offense, Boston College has a good balance, but doesnβt have many playmakers. Running back Montel Harris leads the team with 1,243 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
In terms of injuries, Boston College tackle Rich Lapham is doubtful with a knee injury while Nevada receiver Chris Wellington is out with a knee injury.
