WASHINGTON, DC (TheSpread) – Ralph Friedgen will coach his final game with Maryland on Wednesday as he leads the Terrapins against East Carolina in the 2010 Military Bowl from RFK Stadium.

Maryland is 8-4 on the season and 8-4 against the point spread odds while East Carolina is 6-6 on the year and 6-6 against the spread. The two teams have combined to go over the point total in 15 of 23 lined games. Trends show that East Carolina is 2-9 against the point spread odds in their last 11 non-conference games and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games against the ACC.

Oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com have given Maryland point spread odds of -7.5 against East Carolina on Wednesday. The over/under total has been set at 67.5 points. (View Matchup)

Opening odds had Maryland favored by 7.5 points and the spread dipped down to 7 points before returning to 7.5 to close. The over/under total opened at 69 points but has since fallen back to 67.5.

Maryland went 8-4 this season, but that wasn’t enough for Friedgen to keep his job. Maryland only lost to some of the best in the ACC and West Virginia, but the Terrapins wanted to go in another direction. On the year, Maryland is averaging 30.7 points per game on offense and giving up 22.3 per contest. They have a balanced offense, but have been led by Danny O’Brien, who has thrown for 2,257 yards and 21 touchdowns with just six interceptions.

East Carolina dropped four of its last five games to end the season, despite scoring at least 35 points in each game. In fact, East Carolina averages 38.2 points per game, which ranks 12th nationally. Problem is, the Pirates give up 43.4 points per game on defense, which is the third most in the country. Defensively, ECU has struggled to stop the run, as it allows 220.8 yards per game on the ground. The offense is led by quarterback Dominique Davis, who has thrown for 3,699 yards and 36 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while also rushing for nine touchdowns.

In terms of injuries, ECU linebacker Matt Thompson is questionable for the game with an eye injury while Maryland running back Gary Douglas is questionable with a leg injury.

Over 20,200 public bets have been placed on this game with Maryland getting 66% of the wagers with odds of -7.5 against East Carolina.
