Navy at Ohio State
The Terrelle Pryor era begins a new chapter on Saturday when No. 6 Ohio State host Navy at Ohio Stadium at Noon ET.
Pryor is now considered the leader of the Buckeyes as he enters his sophomore season. Jim Tressel handed the reins over to Pryor early last season and he put together a solid season with 1,311 yards passing and 12 touchdowns while rushing for 631 yards and six touchdowns. Pryor was named the preseason Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and will have to lead the Buckeyes without running back Chris Wells and leading receivers Brian Robiskie and Brian Hartline. The Buckeyes will need their defense to shine early in the season, coming of a 2008 season where they were seventh in scoring, allowing just 13.1 points per-game. Also missing key leaders from 2008, the defensive line will have to anchor the unit, led by Thaddeus Gibson, who had five sacks in 2009.
Navy is fresh off an 8-5 season in 2008, and has won at least eight games in the last five seasons. The Midshipmen lose a lot of offensive starters this season, as four of their top five rushers are gone. Back is junior Ricky Dobbs, who will play quarterback, but be primarily a runner. Dobbs had 495 yards rushing with eight touchdowns last season for Navy, who averaged 292 yards rushing per-game in 2008. Navy brings back sevens starters on defense, led by linebacker Ross Pospisil, who racked up 106 tackles in 2008.
