Clark has the support of running back Evan Royster, who rushed for 1,236 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2008 and had a 6.5 yards-per-carry average. While the Nittany Lions offense may be down, the defense should be just as strong as 2008, where it held opponents to 14.4 points per-game, which ranked eighth in the country.

State’s strength on defense will be at defensive tackle, where Jared Odrick and Ollie Ogbu return. Odrick was a First Team All-Big 10 pick.

Akron, which is the longest reign of any MAC coach. Brookhart has had three-straight losing seasons and is on the hot seat to contend for the MAC title in 2009.
