STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -Penn State forward Geary Claxton, the Big Ten’s second-leading scorer, hurt his left knee in the first half of Tuesday night’s game against No. 17 Wisconsin and did not return.
Claxton fell to the floor with about 13 minutes left in the first half after trying to rebound his own missed shot. He winced and held his hands over his face as trainers looked at the leg before walking to the locker room with a slight limp.
Doctors were evaluating his left knee, a team spokesman said at halftime.
Entering Tuesday, Claxton was averaging 18.7 points, second only to Indiana’s Eric Gordon (23.0) in scoring in the conference. Claxton’s 8.9 rebounds were second to the Hoosiers’ D.J. White (10.9)
Claxton missed his only two field goal attempts and did not grab a rebound, ending his streak of four straight double-doubles. He has nine double-doubles this season.
