PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Drexel was left out of the NCAA tournament after a regular season that saw 27 wins and the regular season Colonial Athletic Association championship.
The Dragons failed to make their first tournament since 1996 and instead will play in the NIT. The Dragons won 19 straight games before losing to VCU in the CAA championship game.
Coach Bruiser Flint says the Dragons will have to win 30 straight next season. The Dragons were considered on the bubble to make the 68-team field.
Flint says the Dragons will have to schedule tougher teams to raise their RPI. He knew the possibility of an at-large bid was over when he saw fellow bubble team Iona in the field.
The Dragons are 27-6 and will play in the NIT for the first time since 2007.
