Saint Mary’s Gaels Notes
Logan Johnson supplied 12 points (3-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT) and 10 rebounds over 40 minutes during Friday’s 63-51 victory over VCU. Johnson led all players in rebounds, and also played every minute of this NCAA Tournament first-round matchup. The senior guard’s rebound total was his highest of the year, but the work has only just begun. The California native will have to provide another productive effort against fourth-seeded UConn tomorrow night if Saint Mary’s hopes to advance further into the tournament.
UConn Huskies Notes
Adama Sanogo closed with 28 points (13-17 FG, 2-3 FT), 13 rebounds and one block in 25 minutes during Friday’s 87-63 victory over Iona. Sanogo’s six offensive rebounds helped him record his seventh double-double of the season in Friday’s First Round game. The junior center’s efficient scoring also led him to post a game-high 28 points.
