Keonte Kennedy (hand) is doubtful to participate in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, per Parth Upadhyaya of the Daily Memphian. On Tuesday, Memphis’ head coach Penny Hardaway provided an update on Kennedy’s status. The senior’s return timetable was four-to-six weeks, and he is on Week 3 now. That suggests Kennedy will not play when Memphis and Florida Atlantic play in two days for their first-round game of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. More importantly, Kennedy’s timetable indicates he is unlikely to participate in the tourney at all, even if the Tigers make a deep run. While they have enough depth to make a decent push, Kennedy did average 11.8 points and 1.6 steals across his last nine games started, which Memphis definitely could use.
