CLEVELAND, OH (TheSpread) – The 2011 Mid-American Conference Tournament gets underway on Tuesday and will conclude from Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday.

The MAC Tournament has 12 teams and on Tuesday, four games featuring the bottom eight seeds will take place at campus sites with the four winners joining the top four seeds in Cleveland starting on Thursday for the quarterfinals until the title game is played on Saturday night.

Kent State enters the tournament as the favorite according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook SBGGLOBAL.com as they have 11/5 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Western Michigan (5/2), Miami (Ohio) (3/1), and last year’s championship teams, Akron and Ohio, each have 5/1 odds.

Kent State is the top seed in the tournament as it won the regular season title, going 12-4 in conference play and 21-10 overall. Kent State has won this tournament five times, the last coming in 2008.

Western Michigan won the MAC West, going 11-5 in MAC play while finishing 19-11 overall. The Broncos last won this tournament in 2004, which was its only win in program history.

Miami also went 11-5 in MAC play, but came up a game short in the MAC East behind Kent State. The RedHawks went 16-15 overall this season. Miami has won the tournament four times, the last coming in 2007.
