The 2010 Women’s March Madness begins Saturday, but it is clear that this year’s tournament is about Connecticut and only Connecticut.

The most dominant team in women’s basketball has set itself apart from the rest of the tournament field to the point that odds makers have posted just one betting option.

Oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com have given the Huskies a money line of -800 while the rest of the field, which includes all 63 other teams, have a line of +500.

The Huskies have won 71-straight games heading into the NCAA Tournament and are 33-0 this season. Of all 33 wins, the lowest margin of victory was 14 points. UConn is clearly the best team and in the women’s tournament, typically one or two teams dominate the field. This season, it looks like the Huskies will be the one team to run the table. The Huskies have beaten 13 ranked teams this season and have eight wins over top 10 teams, so a lack of playing the top competition is not an issue for UConn. The Huskies are seeking their seventh NCAA title. It will be their second straight and fifth this decade if they win.

No other team is undefeated in women’s basketball this season, which is why the Huskies are such strong favorites, even against the entire tournament field. UConn will face Southern on Saturday to open their run to the national title.
