MSU’s Final Four Odds
Injuries haven’t stopped Michigan State from reaching its sixth Final Four since 1999, but can the Spartans break through and win the 2010 National Championship?
An 85-83 win over Maryland came at the hands of a Korie Lucious buzzer-beater 3-pointer to get the Spartans into the Sweet Sixteen. In that win, MSU lost 2009 Big Ten Player of the Year, Kalin Lucas, to an Achilles injury. Already with Chris Allen and Delvon Roe nursing injuries, Michigan State went on to win two more games by single digits to reach the Final Four.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have given Michigan State 17/4 odds to win the Final Four. The odds are the worst of any of the four teams remaining.
The Spartans are now 28-8 on the season after winning their four tournament games. MSU has also won seven of its last eight games. Eight of their last nine games have been decided by single digits.
Michigan State averages 72.4 points per-game on offense while the Spartans give up 64.1 points per-game. The Spartans shoot 47 percent from the field on the year including 34 percent from 3-point land and 68.8 percent from the free throw line. Rebounding has been a big strength for the Spartans as they average 38.6 boards while giving up just 29.9.
Lucas averaged 14.8 points per-game on the year with 4 assists per-game before getting injured. Raymar Morgan posts 11.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per-game on the year while Durrell Summers averages 11.2 points per-game, but has scored 80 points in his last four games combined. Summers has also made 14 3-point field goals in the last three games. Draymond Green has posted 9.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per-game on the season. With Lucas injured, Lucious has stepped up with 31 points, 10 assists, and 11 rebounds over the last three games.
The 2010 Final Four will take place from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The semifinals will take place on Saturday while the national championship game will take place on Monday night.
