Two programs looking for a landmark win collide Friday at 7:27PM ET when Baylor faces St. Mary’s in a South Regional Semifinal.

St. Mary’s is appearing in its first Sweet Sixteen in school history. The Gaels have won their last seven games, with the last three coming against ranked opponents. St. Mary’s topped

Richmond 80-71 in the opening round of the tournament and then defeated Villanova 75-68 to reach Friday’s game. The Gaels shot 50 percent in the win while holding Villanova to 36 percent shooting. Omar Samhan had 32 points on 13-of-16 shooting and added seven rebounds. Mickey McConnell added 15 points while Matthew Dellavedova had 14 points.

St. Mary’s has looked like a very solid team this tournament thanks to the play of Samhan. Baylor will have some bodies that can defend Samhan, which will test the Gaels perimeter players. Still,
St. Mary’s has proven it can contend on the big stage and despite the home court edge for Baylor, look for this came to come down to the wire. We like the Gaels to cover and the under.
