2010 March Madness South Regional Odds To Win – Duke Still Favored

Three of the top four seeds still remain in the South Regional and the top-seeded Duke Blue Devils are still the favorites to advance to the Final Four.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Duke a 5/7 favorite to win the South Regional. Other odds to win are Baylor (19/10), St. Mary’s (6/1), and Purdue (15/2).

Duke is 31-5 on the season and the Blue Devils are the No. 1 seed in the tournament. Duke defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 73-44 to open the tournament then defeated California 68-53 to reach the Sweet Sixteen. Duke will face the No. 4 seed, Purdue, on Friday at 9:57PM ET.

Baylor is the No. 3 seed in the regional. The Bears are 27-7 on the season and they defeated Sam Houston State 68-59 in the opening round and defeated Old Dominion 76-68 in the second round to reach the Sweet Sixteen. Baylor will face the No. 10 seed, St. Mary’s on Friday night at 7:27PM ET.

The St. Mary’s Gaels opened with 50/1 odds to win the regional, but two impressive wins have moved the 28-5 Gaels up to 6/1 odds. St. Mary’s defeated Richmond 80-71 to open the tournament then defeated the second-seed, Villanova, 75-68 to reach the Sweet Sixteen. St. Mary’s will face Baylor on Friday night.

Purdue is 29-5 on the season and the Boilermakers defeated Siena 72-64 in the opening round and defeated Texas A&M 63-61 in the second round. Purdue will face Duke on Friday. The Boilermakers have long odds because of the injury issues they have.

The South Regional will take place from Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas starting on Friday and concluding on Sunday.
