Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Duke 5-point favorites over Baylor on Sunday night. The over/under has been set at 139.
Duke is seeking to reach its 15th Final Four in school history and first since 2004. The Blue Devils are winners of their last seven after disposing of Purdue, 70-57 in the regional semifinal on Friday night. Duke dominated a banged up Purdue team on the glass, out-rebounding the Boilermakers 45-22 while holding Purdue to 37 percent shooting. Kyle Singler led Duke in the win, scoring 24 points and pulling down eight rebounds. Jon Scheyer added 18 points while Nolan Smith had 15 points.
Baylor is seeking its third Final Four in school history and first since 1950. The Bears are winners of eight of their last nine games including a 72-49 win over St. Mary’s on Friday night. The Bears held the Gaels to 35 percent shooting from the field and 6-of-22 shooting from 3-point land while also out-rebounding St. Mary’s 37-25. LaceDarius Dunn had 23 points and three assists for the Bears while Tweety Carter had 14 points and Ekpe Udoh had eight points and 11 rebounds.
In this game, Duke has a lot of talent and good shooting, but the Bears have the ability to dominate with defense, as they did against St. Mary’s. While the Bears will be facing a better team in Duke, Baylor hasn’t been given a lot of credit in this game, being 5-point underdogs. We like the Bears to cover and perhaps win while the under should also hit, as it has in many tournament games this year.
