Pelicans vs. Nuggets Pick
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Nuggets are a 4.5-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under sits at 221 points.
New Orleans comes in with an 8-7 record and 9-6 ATS after a 125-116 home loss to the Raptors. Denver is 8-6 overall and 5-9 ATS following a 99-82 loss at the Trail Blazers. The Nuggets went 3-1 straight up and ATS in four meetings last season. The over-under went 2-2.
The Pelicans were led by DeMarcus Cousins with 25 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals in the loss to Toronto. Anthony Davis had 19 points, five boards and three steals. Jrue Holiday added 18 points, five assists and four rebounds. New Orleans trailed by one at halftime and proceeded to be outscored by a count of 34-23 in the third quarter.
In Denver’s loss at Portland, Paul Millsap and Jamal Murray each accounted for 18 points and five rebounds. Wilson Chandler added 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists. The Nuggets trailed 54-49 at halftime and were outscored 30-17 in the third quarter.
New Orleans is 3-7 ATS in its last 10 meetings in Denver. The under is 7-1 in the Nuggets’ last seven games following a straight up loss.
The thin air of Denver makes for a tough atmosphere for road teams, but no other team has the duo of Cousins and Davis on the interior. Lately, the Pelicans have taken their creativity in setting up offense with them to a whole new level. Look for New Orleans to set the tempo and keep the Nuggets off balance defensively. But let’s not forget Denver has a high-octane offense as well. This game screams high-scoring.
