Default prices come from the standard teaser payout table most US sportsbooks use (football 6, 6.5 and 7 points; basketball 4, 4.5 and 5 points). Books vary, so if yours quotes a different price, enter it in Your book’s odds.
How to use this calculator
- Choose the Sport (Football or Basketball), the Points (how far each line moves in your favor) and the number of Teams.
- Enter your bet in the Stake ($) box.
- Your book’s odds is the price your sportsbook quotes for this teaser. It starts at the standard table price; change it only if your book is different, with a sign, like -120.
- Type each team’s line, like -7.5 or +2.5. The teased line appears beside it.
- Read Total payout and Profit. Each team must win is the win rate every team needs for the teaser to break even. If a team pushes sets how a tie is graded: most books drop that team and pay the smaller teaser.
Example: step by step
- Sport is Football, Points 6 and Teams 2. Stake ($) is 100.
- Your book’s odds shows -110, the standard price for a 2-team, 6-point teaser.
- Team 1 is -7.5, teased 6 points to -1.5. Team 2 is +2.5, teased to +8.5. Both moves cross 3 and 7, the most common NFL margins.
- Total payout: $100 at -110 = $190.91. Profit: $90.91.
- Each team must win shows 72.37%: both teams together need to cover 52.38% of the time, and 0.7237 × 0.7237 = 0.5238.
In plain words: if the favorite wins by 2 or more and the underdog loses by 8 or fewer (or wins), your $100 teaser pays $190.91. It only beats the price if each team covers its teased line about 72% of the time.

How a teaser works
A teaser is a parlay in which every point spread or total moves in your favor by the same number of points. In return, it pays far less than a normal parlay. In football the usual options are 6, 6.5 or 7 points. In basketball they’re 4, 4.5 or 5. Every team has to cover its teased line for the ticket to win.
A 6-point teaser turns a -7.5 favorite into -1.5 and a +2.5 underdog into +8.5. On a total, the points move the number your way: over 44.5 becomes over 38.5, and under 44.5 becomes under 50.5.
Standard teaser payout tables
Teaser prices are set by each sportsbook rather than calculated from the individual lines, and they vary from book to book. The calculator starts from the commonly used tables below and highlights the price you’ve picked. If your book pays differently, type its odds into “Your book’s odds” and the calculator uses that price instead.

The calculator goes up to eight teams. Larger teasers are priced very differently from book to book, so check your book’s price before relying on the default.
Worked examples
A two-team, 6-point NFL teaser
You tease a -7.5 favorite to -1.5 and a +2.5 underdog to +8.5. At -110, a $110 stake returns $210 if both cover, a $100 profit. Both lines move through 3 and 7, and the calculator marks them.
A three-team teaser
$50 on a three-team, 6-point football teaser at +180 returns $140 if all three cover, a $90 profit.
A push
Under the default rule, a push removes that team and the teaser is paid as one size smaller. If one leg of that three-team teaser lands exactly on its teased number and the other two cover, it pays as a two-team teaser at -110, and the $50 stake returns $95.45.
Basketball
A two-team, 5-point basketball teaser at -130 returns $176.92 on a $100 stake, a $76.92 profit.
The win rate each team needs
The most useful number the calculator shows is the win rate each team needs. Because every leg has to cover, the break-even rate per team is the teaser’s implied probability raised to the power of one divided by the number of teams. A two-team, 6-point teaser at -110 needs each team to cover 72.37% of the time. At 7 points and -130, the bar rises to 75.18%.

In the default table, each extra half point raises the win rate each team needs, so the added cushion has to be worth more than it costs. That’s why many bettors stick to 6 points and only tease lines that move through the most common final margins.
Key numbers and Wong teasers
More NFL games are decided by 3 or 7 points than by any other margins. A 6-point teaser that moves a line through both gains the most: an underdog from +1.5 or +2.5 up to +7.5 or +8.5, or a favorite from -7.5 or -8.5 down to -1.5 or -2.5. This approach is called a Wong teaser, after the author Stanford Wong. The calculator marks any football spread that crosses both 3 and 7. How pushes are graded
Books differ. Many treat a push as removing that team, so a three-team teaser is paid as a two-team teaser. Others grade any push as a loss, and some refund a two-team teaser when one leg pushes. Choose the rule your book uses in the calculator. If a push leaves fewer than two teams, the calculator assumes the stake is refunded. Check your book’s house rules before you bet.
