KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -Manager Trey Hillman realizes his job could be in jeopardy with the Kansas City Royals sitting 11 games below .500 and in the midst of a six-game losing streak.
Hillman is in the third and final year of his contract with the Royals after managing the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters from 2003-07, including winning the 2006 Japan League championship.
The Royals lost 97 games in 2009 and are 55 games below .500 under Hillman. They entered Wednesday night’s game with Cleveland in last place in the American League Central, 10 games out of first. Only Baltimore had a worse record in the majors.
