BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -New York Mets outfielder Angel Pagan has joined Triple-A Buffalo on a rehabilitation assignment.
Pagan had surgery to remove a bone spur in his right elbow on March 11. Vying for a bench role in the outfield, the 27-year-old played five games with the Mets in spring training before being placed on the disabled list on April 5, retroactive to March 27.
The speedy Pagan got off to a fine start with the Mets last year before a shoulder tear ended his season on May 7. He finished with a .275 batting average and 13 RBIs in 91 at-bats.
Buffalo opened a four-game homestand against Gwinnett on Tuesday.
