He allowed two earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk over seven innings in a 2-0 home loss to the Diamondbacks his last start. Bumgarner has a 3.57 ERA in 53 road innings. Ryu holds a 1.33 WHIP with 114 strikeouts in 122 1/3 innings. He threw 4 2/3 innings of shutout baseball his last outing, giving up three hits while striking out five and walking two in a 7-1 loss at the Nationals. Ryu holds a 3.47 ERA in 59 2/3 home innings.
The Giants are 60-93 on the season and 24-51 on the road, while the Dodgers come in at 97-56 and 52-23 at home. Los Angeles has won six of the last 10 meetings and the over-under is 5-5 in those games.
On Friday night, the Dodgers clinched their fifth straigth NL West title via a 4-2 win over their rivals. Cody Bellinger hit a three-run home run to spark the offense. Logan Forsythe was 2-for-3 and scored a run. Rich Hill allowed one earned run and struck out nine over six innings to notch the win. Pablo Sandoval hit a solo home run for San Francisco, while Brandon Crawford was 2-for-3 with a walk. Jeff Samardzija gave up four earned runs in 4 1/3 innings to take the loss.
Los Angeles will undoubtedly be resting some regulars after clinching yesterday, which will make Bumgarner’s job a lot easier. Ryu is a solid pitcher, but if he doesn’t get any run support it won’t matter. San Francisco has a weak offense, but they might not have the weaker offense in this particular game and Bumgarner is the better pitching option. Take the Giants.
