Rockies drop third straight

Colorado lost by a 2-1 score Saturday at Philadelphia to drop to 20-24 overall and 11-13 on the road. The Rockies trimmed their deficit to 2-1 in the top of the seventh inning, but ultimately their rally fell short. Tony Wolters helped lead the way offensively as he went 1-for-4 with a run scored. Ryan McMahon finished 1-for-1 with an RBI pinch-hit double. Raimel Tapia ended the contest 2-for-4. Antonio Senzatela took the loss as he surrendered two runs (one earned) on five hits with two strikeouts and four walks over five innings. Kyle Freeland will start today for Colorado as he comes in with a 2-5 record, 5.68 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with 44 strikeouts over 50 2/3 innings.

Harper homers in win

Philadelphia secured a 2-1 home victory Saturday evening to improve to 26-19 overall and 17-10 at home. Bryce Harper ended the contest 2-for-3 with a moonshot solo home run and a double plus a walk. Cesar Hernandez ended the contest 2-for-4 with a double. Jean Segura went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Rhys Hoskins finished 1-for-3 plus a walk. Aaron Nola picked up the win as he allowed one earned run on eight hits with 12 strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Hector Neris picked up his seventh save of the season as he struck out one over two perfect innings. Jerad Eickhoff will start today for the Phillies as he enters with a 2-2 record, 2.65 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 33 strikeouts over 34 innings of work.

MLB Betting Trends

Colorado

The Rockies are 4-1 in their last five Sunday games. Colorado is 20-7 in the last 27 Freeland starts.

Philadelphia

The Phillies are 7-1 in their last eight Sunday games. Philadelphia is 2-6 in the last eight Eickhoff starts versus the NL West.

Prediction:

Freeland is a much better pitcher than he’s shown this season, but he’s coming off a pretty good start in a win at Boston so he might be figuring some things out again. While Colorado is by no means a great team, it is good enough to win against anyone on any given day. That’s the nature of baseball, but as underdogs with Freeland looking to continue bettering his season numbers I like the Rockies to get the job done today as dogs.
