Arizona won by a count of 8-2 Friday night in its series opener at Toronto to improve to 32-32 overall and 18-16 on the road. David Peralta helped pace the Diamondbacks as he went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two scored. Kevin Cron finished 1-for-4 with his first career MLB homer and three RBIs. Carson Kelly was 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Merrill Kelly picked up the win as he allowed one earned run on three hits with three strikeouts and two walks over seven innings of work. Zack Greinke draws the start today for Arizona as he enters with a 6-2 record, 3.09 ERA and 0.93 WHIP with 75 strikeouts over 81 2/3 innings.
Stroman hit hard
Toronto fell 8-2 at home Friday night versus Arizona to drop to 23-40 overall and 12-20 at home. Marcus Stroman suffered the loss on the mound as he surrendered six earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks over 5 2/3 innings. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. helped lead the Blue Jays offense as he finished 2-for-4. Teoscar Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Randal Grichuk was 1-for-4 and scored a run. Aaron Sanchez gets the start today for Toronto as he comes in with a 3-6 record, 3.95 ERA and 1.53 WHIP with 58 strikeouts over 66 innings of work.

Greinke has been inconsistent all season as his WHIP suggests and should shut down a Toronto offense that still lacks a spark, even since the call-up of the heralded Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Sanchez, on the other hand, has allowed a lot of baserunners and will struggle to avoid trouble today against a good Arizona offense. I have to go with Arizona to get another road win today.
