Yankees Season Odds
Once again, the New York Yankees are favored to run the tables in baseball and claim World Series victory. Let’s take a look at their odds.
The Yankees re-signed Andy Pettitte in the offseason and also added DH Nick Johnson and outfielder Randy Winn. They acquired outfielder Curtis Granderson from the Tigers while parting ways with Ian Kennedy, Austin Jackson and Phil Coke, as well as Javier Vazquez and Boone Logan from the Braves in exchange for Arodys Vizcaino, Melky Cabera and Michael Dunn.
Along with Cabrera, Coke and Kenndy, the Yankees’ other notable losses were Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui, Chien-Ming Wang and Xavier Nady.
Oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com have made the Yankees a 2.75/1 favorite to win the 2010 World Series and a 1.4/1 favorite to win the American League Pennant. They’re also –120 on the money line to win the AL East and have an over/under total of 95.5 for number of wins this season.
Looking at their roster, it’s easy to see why the Bronx Bombers are favored to win again this season. Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixiera, Robinson Cano and Jorge Posada form the most feared lineup in baseball and the additions of Granderson and Johnson only help give the Yankees’ offense more of a boost. The pitching staff is also outstanding, with CC Sabathia and AJ Burnett headlining a group that also features Vazquez, Pettitte and youngster Phil Hughes. The bullpen is solid as well, with Mariano Rivera set to close out ninth innings and Joba Chamberlain providing an outside setup man.
