Updated Series Odds
With the 2010 MLB Season set to kickoff with Opening Day, it’s a great time to check out the updated odds for the 2010 World Series. Let’s take a look.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the New York Yankees a 13/4 favorite to win the 2010 World Series. It should surprise no one that the Bronx Bombers are favored to win the Fall Classic again this year, seeing as how they hoisted the World Series trophy in 2009 and have the best collection of talent in baseball.
Of course, the Yankees’ ’09 World Series counterparts, the Philadelphia Phillies, will have something to say about New York having the best talent. The Fightin’ Phils traded for one of the best pitchers this past decade in Roy Halladay this winter, and now have an excellent starting pitching staff to go with their already stacked lineup. Philadelphia is right behind the Yankees in terms of odds at 13/2 to win this year’s World Series.
Some midrange long shots to keep an eye on this year are the Colorado Rockies (20/1), Atlanta Braves (22/1), Chicago White Sox (18/1), Tampa Bay Rays (18/1), Seattle Mariners (16/1), Texas Rangers (25/1), Detroit Tigers (30/1) and the San Francisco Giants (22/1). All eight of these teams aren’t without their flaws, but there is something intriguing about all of these clubs and with a little luck, some of them will make a serious postseason run this year.
Of course, you can never go wrong with teams like the Los Angeles Angels (18/1), Los Angeles Dodgers (16/1), St. Louis Cardinals (12/1) and the Boston Red Sox (13/2). Barring serious injuries to star players, all four of these teams will be competitive all season and should make the playoffs. (Although the Dodgers could be primed for the taking in the NL West.)
