Dodgers Season Odds

The Los Angeles Dodgers will virtually have the same roster in 2010 as they did in 2009, when they won 95 games. How will the Dodgers fair this season?

Due to the divorce of owner Frank McCourt from his wife and former CEO Jamie McCourt, the Dodgers didn’t open their checkbooks this offseason. They only spent $11.5 million this offseason, although they did sign pitcher Vicente Padilla and added players like Brad Ausmus, Ronnie Belliard and Reed Johnson for depth purposes.

The club also signed right fielder Andre Ethier to a two-year contract extension, as well as closer Jonathan Broxton and centerfielder Matt Kemp.

Los Angeles has solid rotation, comprised of Padilla, Chad Billingsley, Clayton Kershaw and Hiroki Kuroda. But they have little depth behind the starters so if the group suffers injuries or poor production, then the Dodgers may suffer. The club has plenty offense (Ethier, Kemp, Manny Ramirez, Russell Martin and Rafael Furcal form a formidable lineup), defense and pitching to win the NL West again, but they’ll have to win with what they have. Can they stave off the Rockies and avoid a power shift in the division?

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction have made the Dodgers 12/1 to win the World Series and 6/1 to win the NL Pennant. They’re also 1.5/1 to win the NL West and have an over/under total of 84.5 for wins.
