Angels Season Odds

The Los Angeles Angels suffered a couple of losses this offseason, but are still the favorites to win the AL West. Let’s take a look at their 2010 season odds.

The Angels re-signed Bobby Abreu to a new contract this offseason and also added pitchers Joel Pineiro, Fernando Rodney and Hideki Matsui. The Halos also extended Maicer Izturis to a three-year deal.

L.A. lost a handful of key players in the offseason, including ace pitcher John Lackey, leadoff hitter Chone Figgins and cleanup hitter Vladimir Guerrero. They also parted ways with Gary Matthews, Darren Oliver and Kelvim Escobar.

As long as the Halos get a full season out of Scott Kazmir and Ervin Santana, then the loss of Lackey will be somewhat negated. And even if Kazmir and Santana are as unpredictable as they usually are, the signing of Pineiro will help the rotation too.

While the losses of Lackey, Figgins and Guerrero certainly hurt, the Halos always retool and the additions of Pineiro and Matsui will help them win another division title. The Mariners and Rangers will push them, but the Angels still have the best talent in the AL West.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Angels a 25/1 long shot to win the 2010 World Series and 12/1 to win the AL Pennant. They’re also 2/1 to win the AL West and have an over/under of 84 for total wins.
