Do the Houston Astros have enough talent on their roster to make a postseason run in 2010? Let’s take a look at their odds.

Bet 2010 World Series Odds

The Astros made several moves this offseason, including signing Brandon Lyon, Brett Myers, Pedro Feliz, Brian Moehler, Geoff Blum and Jason Michaels. Houston also traded for Matt Lindstrom from the Marlins for Rule 5 pick Jorge Jimenez, shortstop Luis Bryan and pitcher Robert Bono.

The Stros’ notable losses were Miguel Tejada, Darin Erstad, Mike Hampton, Russ Ortiz, LaTroy Hawkins, Jose Valverde and Doug Brocail.

The Astros have more than enough offensive talent at the top of their lineup in Carlos Lee, Michael Bourn, Hunter Pence and Lance Berkman. But the bottom of their order is questionable at best. If guys like Feliz, Kaz Matsui and J.R. Towles don’t produce, Houston will have issues scoring runs.

It’s the same story with the Astros’ starting rotation. Wandy Rodriguez and Roy Oswalt pack a nice 1-2 punch, but the rest of the rotation is questionable at best. If the back half of the order and starting rotation can overachieve, Hosuton will be better than pundits think. If not, then the Stros are in trouble and will likely sink to the bottom of the NL Central.

Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have the Astros 100/1 long shots to win the 2010 World Series and 50/1 to win the NL Pennant. They’re also 35/1 to win the NL Central and have a over/under of 73.5 wins.
