Tigers Season Odds
There’s optimism in Motown these days, as the Detroit Tigers are expected to challenge the Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central.
The Tigers made some noise this offseason when they traded Curtis Granderson and Edwin Jackson in order to acquire Austin Jackson, Phil Coke, Daniel Schlereth and Max Scherzer. Detroit also signed Johnny Damon, Jose Valverde, Adam Everett and Brad Thomas in free agent deals.
Along with Granderson and Jackson, the Tigers lost Fernando Rodney, Brandon Lyon, Placido Polanco, Aubrey Huff, Jarrod Washburn and Marcus Thames.
Justin Verlander and Miguel Cabrera give the Tigers a chance to make a run this season, but the question is whether or not the front office is committed to winning. They traded Granderson, so a player like Cabrera could be on the trading block in order for the team to clear salary. But if Detroit plays well in the first half, the front office may make a move in order to make a postseason run.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Tigers a 30/1 long shot to win the World Series and 15/1 to win the American League Pennant. They’re also 3.5/1 to win the AL Central and have an over/under total of 80.5 for regular season wins.
