According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Montoya has been given 7/1 odds to win this race. He will start in 10th position for Sundayβs race.
Montoya has only competed in one Indy 500, which was back in 2000. He started second that race and ended up winning as part of Chip Ganassi Racing. This year he makes his return after leaving NASCAR. He is racing for Team Penske.
Montoya is currently 15th in the IndyCar point standings. He hasnβt had a great start to his return to open-wheel racing. He has just one top 5 this year, a fourth-place finish. He has finished 15th or worse in every other race.
Montoya is starting 10th on Sunday, which has produced two winners. The last winner came in 2003. He is also starting in the fourth row, which has produced a total of six winners, including last yearβs champion.
The Indianapolis 500 will take place on Sunday, May 25 from Indianapolis Motor Speedway at Noon ET on ABC.
