PITTSBURGH (AP) – The Pittsburgh Penguins head into a long offseason with plenty of questions.
Pittsburgh fell to the New York Rangers 4-1 in the opening round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. The Penguins lost all four games to New York by the same 2-1 score.
Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby says injuries played a role in his team’s quick exit. The Penguins were missing three of their top four defensemen for the final weeks of the regular season and the playoffs.
Coach Mike Johnston praised his players for their tenacity even as they fell behind. Center Brandon Sutter says the Penguins still have the players to win a title and there is no need for drastic changes.
