Even as the teams have been cut in half, San Jose and Chicago are still considered equal favorites to win.

Oddsmakers from Online Sportsbook Sportsbook.com have given Chicago and San Jose 2/1 odds to win the Western Conference. Other short odds to win are Detroit (11/4), and Vancouver (3/1).

San Jose is the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and they will host the Red Wings in one of two semifinal matches. The Sharks disposed of No. 8 Colorado in six games despite falling behind 2-1 early in the series. The Sharks scored five goals or more in three of their four wins. The Red Wings are the No. 5 seed and they defeated No. 4 Phoenix in seven games, 4-3. The Red Wings won three of their games on the road and scored at least three goals in each victory.

The Chicago Blackhawks are the No. 2 seed in the West and they defeated No. 7 Nashville in six games. They will now face No. 3 Vancouver in the semifinals. The Blackhawks fell behind 2-1 in the series with the Predators, but won the final three games, scoring at least three goals in each game. The turning point in the series was an overtime win in game five, 5-4.
