Colts vs. Broncos Pick
Should the Denver Broncos have any trouble with the Indianapolis Colts when the two meet up this Sunday at 4:25PM ET?
According to the oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Broncos are the clear favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -6 points against the Colts. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 46.5 points. Indy has dominated this series, winning eight of the last nine meetings while covering the spread in all nine contests.
The Super Bowl champs kicked off the season with a big 21-20 win over the Panthers at home last Thursday. Denver was actually a 3-point underdog in the game, but grinded out the win with its defense and steady play from new starter Trevor Siemian, who threw for 178 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Denver also got a nice surge from its run game, as the team had 148 yards on 29 attempts, which was lacking for a lot of 2015. Defensively, Denver had three sacks and held Cam Newton to 194 passing yards, but they did give up 157 yards on the ground to the Panthers.
The Colts opened the season with a 39-35 loss at home to the Lions in the highest-scoring game of Week 1. The Colts had plenty of offense, amassing 450 yards, but gave up 448 to the Lions and didn’t force a turnover. Andrew Luck looked sharp in his first game back from injury, throwing for 385 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. Still, most of the offense was on him. The run game had just 82 yards and Frank Gore only rushed for 59 yards. Defensively, Indy gave up 116 rushing yard to the Lions, who were last in the NFL in rushing in 2015.

The Colts remain very banged up on defense, especially in the secondary. That should help Siemian, who can make some throws. However, Denver will likely play conservative and keep the ball on the ground, which should still be successful for them. If Luck can’t get a run game, he’s not going to have much success throwing 40 times. His offensive line won’t be able to keep this defense off of him and it’s likely to lead to turnovers. The Colts don’t have a lot going for them on paper outside of Luck, which isn’t a good recipe against the Broncos.
