ATLANTA, GA (The Spread) – The third week of the NFL season gets started tonight when the Atlanta Falcons host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 8:25PM ET on CBS.

The over/under total for the game has been set at 44.5 points (View Matchup). The opening odds for this game had the Falcons favored by 6 points. The spread hit a peak of 7.5 during the week before falling back to Atlanta -6. The over/under total opened at 45 points and then simply fell back to 44.5.
The Falcons struggled last week in a 24-10 loss to the Bengals. The offense couldn’t get much going, amassing just 309 yards of offense while the defense gave up 472 total yards to the Bengals, including 170 rushing yards. Matt Ryan was just 24 of 44 passing for 231 yards and one touchdown in the loss. He also had three interceptions. Julio Jones caught seven passes for 88 yards and one touchdown.
Tampa Bay suffered a surprising 19-17 loss at home to the banged-up Rams last Sunday. The Bucs, who have plenty of offensive talent, are struggling to move the ball, averaging under 300 yards per game this season. Defensively, Tampa Bay is limiting opponents to 336 yards. Josh McCown has thrown for just 362 yards on 38 of 56 passing with two touchdowns and three interceptions. Bobby Rainey is leading the offense with 156 rushing yards. The defense is being led by Lavonte David, who has 17 tackles and three tackles for loss.
In terms of Injuries, Atlanta receiver Roddy White (hamstring) and tackle Jake Matthews (ankle) are both questionable for the game. Tampa Bay running back Doug Martin (knee) is questionable while defensive tackle Gerald McCoy (hand) is doubtful.
