WASHINGTON, DC (The Spread) – The fourth week of the NFL season gets started tonight at 8:25 PM ET when the Washington Redskins host the New York Giants on CBS.

Both teams come into this game at 1-2 on the season. The Redskins are 1-0 at home and 2-1 against the spread while New York is 0-1 on the road and 1-2 ATS. Both have hit the over in two of three games. New York has won three of its last four against Washington.

Trends show that the underdog has covered the spread in 6 of the last seven games in this series. These two have also hit the under in five straight meetings and in five of their last seven meetings in Washington.

According to oddsmakers from BetDSI, Washington is favored at home, as the Redskins are getting odds of -3.5 points against the Giants today. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 46 points (View Matchup). The opening odds for this game had the Redskins favored by 5.5 points. The spread then fell to a low of 3 before settling in at Washington -3.5. The over/under total opened at 45 points and slowly worked up to 46 points.

Washington is coming off a 37-34 loss at Philadelphia last week. The game was a battle from the start, as Washington even led by 10 points in the second quarter. Washington amassed 511 yards of offense in the loss while the Eagles posted 379 total yards. Kirk Cousins looked strong in filling in for Robert Griffin III, who has an ankle injury. Cousins threw for 427 yards and three touchdowns, with Pierre Garcon catching 11 passes for 128 yards and a score. Alfred Morris added 77 rushing yards.

New York is coming off a 30-17 win at home over Houston, making up for two poor performances to start the year. The Giants posted 419 yards of offense in the win despite allowing 411 yards to Houston. Rashad Jennings was the workhorse in the offense, rushing 34 times for 176 yards and a touchdown. Eli Manning added 234 passing yards with two touchdowns. Victor Cruz also had his first strong showing of the season, catching five passes for 107 yards and a touchdown.

In terms of Injuries, Washington receiver DeSean Jackson (shoulder) and tight end Jordan Reed (hamstring) are both questionable for this game. New York linebacker Jon Beason (toe) is doubtful for the game while receiver Odell Beckham (hamstring) is out.
