Colts vs. Texans Odds
(The Spread) – It’s going to be a strange sight in Houston this Sunday when Peyton Manning isn’t under center for the Colts.
Manning, who had neck surgery this offseason, is doubtful to play this Sunday when the Colts open their season on the road versus the Texans. Game time is set for 1:00PM ET and odds makers have made Houston a 9-point favorite. (The over/under total is currently 43 points.)
Veteran Kerry Collins will take the snaps for the Colts, who lost to Houston in last year’s opener. Indianapolis is coming off a less-than-impressive preseason and figure to struggle without Manning at the controls of the offense. Collins has had a couple of really good seasons throughout his career, including as recently as 2008 when he led the Titans to the playoffs. But his play has fallen off a cliff the last two years.

The Texans, meanwhile, addressed their horrid defense with the hiring of coordinator Wade Phillips, who has had plenty of success turning teams around in his first year. Houston also bolstered its secondary with the signing of free agent cornerback Jonathan Joseph this offseason.
According to latest NFL trends, the over is 6-0 in the last six meetings between these two teams in Houston and 10-2 in the last 12 meetings overall. The Colts are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games as an underdog and 5-1 in their last six games as a road underdog. The Texans are just 1-4 ATS in their lat five games overall and 3-7 ATS in their lat 10 versus the AFC.
