The New York Jets were 11-5 last season and reached the AFC Championship. The Dallas Cowboys were just 6-10 last season and missed the playoffs by four games. Dallas has won the last two meetings in this series, but the two haven’t played since 2007.

Trends show that the Jets are 6-1 against the spread in their last 7 games in September while Dallas is 5-0 against the spread in their last five games as an underdog.

The Jets averaged 22.9 points and 351 yards per game last season. The running game was the strength of the team, as they averaged 148.4 yards per game on the ground. Shonn Greene was actually the second leading rusher on the team last season with 766 yards and two scores, but is expected to be the featured back this season. The Jets had one of the best defenses in the NFL, allowing just 19 points and 291 yards per game. New York held opponents to only 90 yards rushing per game.

The Cowboys had plenty of offense last season, averaging 24.6 points and 364.3 yards per game. They did this without Tony Romo for most of the season. Romo appeared in just six games, throwing for 1,605 yards and 11 touchdowns before getting injured. The Cowboys were one of the worst defenses in the NFL last season, as they allowed 27.3 points and 351 yards per game.

In terms of Injuries, Dallas cornerback Terence Newman is doubtful with a groin injury while tight end Martellus Bennett is doubtful with an ankle injury. New York offensive lineman Robert Turner is out for the game with a leg injury.
