The San Diego Chargers are making a push to get to .500 and to do so, they will need to win on the road against the Houston Texans on Sunday at 1PM ET.

The Chargers are 3-5 on the season and 0-4 on the road while Houston is 4-3 on the year and 2-2 at home. San Diego is 0-4 against the number in its last four road games, while Houston is 4-1 ATS in its last five games in Week 9.

Oddsmakers from online sportsbook SBGGLOBAL have made the Chargers a surprising 3-point favorite on the road against the Texans. The over/under has been set at 49.5.

Opening odds had San Diego favored by 1.5 and that spread has climbed up to 3 throughout the week. The over/under point total opened at 50 and climbed up to 51 before dropping to 49.5.

The Chargers ended a three-game losing streak last week by beating Tennessee 33-25 at home. The Chargers have had a number of problems on the road, going 0-4 and fiving up at least 20 points in each road contest. All five of San Diego’s losses this year have come by single digits. Their offense is among the best in the league in terms of yardage production as Philip Rivers has thrown for 2,649 yards and 15 scores. Antonio Gates has 40 catches for 663 yards and nine touchdowns while Kevin Burnett is leading the San Diego defense with 45 tackles and five sacks.

The Texans have alternated wins and losses the last six weeks and are coming off a 30-17 loss to Indianapolis on Monday Night Football last week. The Texans have scored less than 20 points in every loss this year and at least 30 in every win. Matt Schaub has thrown for 1,739 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season while Arian Foster is among the league leaders in rushing with 737 yards and seven touchdowns. Andre Johnson has caught 39 passes for 594 yards and three scores. Bernard Pollard has 65 tackles to lead the Houston defense while Mario Williams has five sacks.

San Diego has key injuries to the defense as Gates is considered doubtful with a foot injury while receivers Legedu Naanee and Malcom Floyd are also both doubtful with hamstring injuries. Houston defensive tackles Shaun Cody and Earl Mitchell are both questionable for Sunday with leg injuries while tight end Owen Daniels is questionable with a bad hamstring.

Just under 20,000 public bets have been made on this game and the Texans have a slight edge, getting 51% of the wagers at +3 against the Chargers.
