After a busy offseason, the Chicago Bears hope that they’ve made enough additions to make a run at the 2011 Super Bowl.

The Bears were arguably the most active team in free agency this offseason, reeling in price catch Julius Peppers and former Vikings running back Chester Taylor. They also hired offensive playcalling wizard Mike Martz and traded for former Panthers safety Chris Harris.

The trades for quarterback Jay Cutler and defensive end Gaines Adams (now deceased) last year left the Bears with limited draft picks. They used their first selection (which didn’t come until the third round) to take Florida safety Major Wright, then added defensive end Corey Wootton in round four and Joshua Moore of Kansas State in Round 5.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com currently list the Bears at 30/1 to win the 2011 Super Bowl and 16/1 to win the NFC. They’re also +300 on the moneyline to win the NFC North and have an over/under win total of 8 this season.

There’s no doubt that the Bears upgraded both sides of the ball with the additions they made this offseason, but their defense still remains a question mark because of the secondary and they still have a ton of unanswered questions along the offensive line. The receivers also have to do a better job getting open for Cutler and he needs to cut way down on the turnovers. Can Matt Forte rebound from a lackluster sophomore season?

Will everything gel for the Bears in 2010? It’s hard to say. Some look at this team as a potential dark horse in the NFC, but even with the addition of Peppers, they still have a ton of holes on defense. They also have to hope that J-Pepp won’t mail in performances now that he finally landed the long-term contract away from Carolina like he so desperately wanted.
