NFL Passing Yard Props
After leading the league in passing yards last year, one would think that Matt Schaub would be favored to accomplish the feat again this year. But he’s not – read on to see who is.
Schaub threw for 4,770 yards with the Texans last year to lead all passes in that category. Peyton Manning finished second with 4,500 yards, Tony Romo finished third with 4,483 yards and Aaron Rodgers finished fourth with 4,434 odds.
But outside of Manning, none of those quarterbacks have better odds than the Saints’ Drew Bress when it comes to who will throw for the most yards in 2010.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, Brees is +500 on the money line to finish with the most passing yards in the regular season this year. Manning is also +500, while Rodgers is +600, Tom Brady is +650 and Schaub is +800.
Given the year he and the Saints had in 2009, it’s amazing to think that Brees ranked sixth for most passing yards last season. But given that he plays in a dome and considering the weapons he has to throw to in Sean Payton’s explosive offense, he should challenge for the most passing yards in 2010.
Still, Schaub looks like a great value at +800 considering Andre Johnson is back and tight end Owen Daniels is healthy again. He threw for 4,770 yards last season and Daniels missed significant time with an injury, so that’s saying something.
