Packers vs. Lions Odds

DETROIT, MI (TheSpread) – The Green Bay Packers look to stay in the NFC North hunt on Sunday when they hit the road to face the Detroit Lions at 1PM ET.

Detroit is 2-10 on the season and 2-4 at home while the Packers are 8-4 overall and 3-3 on the road. The Lions have lost 19-straight divisional games. Trends show that Packers are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games in Detroit while the odds favor the over as it has hit in 5 of the last 7 games between these two teams.

Oddsmakers from online sportsbook SBGGLOBAL.com have released their odds for this game and given the Packers a -6.5 point spread. The over/under odds have been set at 46.5. (View Matchup)

Opening odds had the Packers with a -6.5 spread and during the week the odds moved up to 7 before falling back to 6.5. The over/under total opened at 47 points and it dipped down to 46 points before settling in at 46.5.

Green Bay is 7-5 against the spread this season and surprisingly they have hit the under in 8 of 12 games despite having a prolific offense. The Packers have won 5 of their last 6 games and are averaging 25.3 points per game while allowing just 15.2 points per contest. Aaron Rodgers has emerged as a late MVP candidate as he has thrown for 3,243 yards with 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions despite not having much of a running game to back him up.

The Lions are just 2-0 on the year but they are 8-3-1 against the point spread odds and have hit the over in 9 of 12 games this season as well. Detroit has lost five straight but had seven losses this year come by eight points or less. On the season the Lions are averaging 23.2 points per game while the defense is giving up 25.5 per contest. The Lions have cycled through three different quarterbacks all season due to injury, with Drew Stanton getting the start on Sunday. Stanton has thrown for 411 yards and two touchdowns with one interception on the year.

In terms of injuries, Green Bay defensive end Cullen Jenkins is doubtful with a calf injury while Detroit quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Shaun Hill are both out with injuries. Stafford is still dealing with a bad shoulder while Hill has a broken bone in his finger.

Over 27,800 public bets have been placed on this game and Green Bay is getting 81% of the public wagers with a spread of -6.5 against Detroit.
