Oklahoma Game Notes
In last week’s upset loss to Kansas State, Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel threw the ball 39 times, a season-high. He’s a good player as he posted back-to-back seasons of 3,500+ passing yards and 29+ passing touchdowns in 2019 and 2020. But the Sooners are at their best when they’re balanced and can run the ball. In fact, Oklahoma is 12th in the country with 231.3 rushing yards per game. The feature running back is Eric Gray who transferred from Tennessee ahead of the 2021 season. He’s averaging 100 rushing yards per game on the year at a healthy 7.5 yards per carry. He should get around 10-15 carries against TCU as well as a few passes out of the backfield. If he goes off, Oklahoma may win this game big.
TCU Game Notes
The Horned Frogs had a bye in week 3 sandwiched between their games with Tarleton and SMU. It’s why they’re only 3-0 and Oklahoma is 3-1. The time off seemed to have helped them in their 42-34 win over SMU last week. TCU jumped on their cross-city rivals 28-14 in the first half and held the Mustangs off for the victory. The best players in that game were running backs Kendre Miller and Emari Demercado who combined for 206 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. They should have some room to run on Saturday as Oklahoma is 74th in the country in rushing yards allowed per game at 157.5.

Oklahoma vs. TCU Betting Prediction
Oklahoma’s game against Kansas State ended around 11:00 PM local time on Saturday night. It was a tough contest in which they were trailing throughout but the Sooners had a slim chance to come back and win it at the end. They ultimately fell short. Their head coach, Brent Venables will be at the helm for only his 5th career game as a head coach on Saturday. The game will kick at 11:00 AM local time. I think there’s a bit of a residual hangover from Oklahoma’s last game and I think TCU plays a bit freer than the Sooners because they have nothing to lose. I’ll fade the public and take TCU and the points.
