Jags upended by California Baptist
Southern dropped to 1-11 on the season Wednesday with a 79-76 home defeat against the Lancers. The Jaguars trailed 41-36 at halftime and could not overcome the deficit in the second half. Southern shot 26-of-52 in the loss including 6-of-18 from 3-point range plus 18-of-23 at the charity stripe. Aaron Ray paced the Jaguars with 21 points on 7-of-8 shooting plus 6-of-6 at the free throw line. Richard Lee contributed 18 points along with three rebounds and two steals. Eddie Reese added 10 points, four assists and three boards.
Golden Eagles steamroll Buffalo
Marquette blasted previously the undefeated Bulls last Friday night at home to the tune of 103-85. The Golden Eagles improved to 10-2 overall and 9-0 at home. Marquette shot 33-of-67 from the floor in the victory plus a sizzling 18-of-29 from 3-point range, while going 19-of-22 at the free throw line. Markus Howard had a huge game with 45 points on 12-of-25 shooting including 9-of-13 from 3-point distance and a perfect 12-of-12 at the free throw line. He also contributed five rebounds and four assists. Sam Hauser accounted for 18 points, five boards and two dimes. Joey Hauser added 11 points and nine caroms.

Prediction:
As good as the Marquette offense is, it will probably pull off the gas pedal in the second half after establishing a big lead. With the Jaguars not likely to pull a lot of weight in the scoring department, I think this one stays under by a decent amount. With Southern playing at a fairly slow pace, I don’t see this one turning into a scorefest enough to go over.
