Haarms wins its for Boilermakers
A tip-in by center Matt Haarms with 3.2 seconds remaining Tuesday night sent Purdue to a 48-46 victory at rival Indiana. The Boilermakers (19-7, 12-3 Big Ten Conference) outscored the Hoosiers 28-26 in the second half of the win. Ryan Cline was the lone Purdue player in double figures in scoring as he finished with 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting including 3-of-8 from 3-point distance. He also pulled down three rebounds.
Cornhuskers blown out by Nittany Lions
Nebraska suffered a 95-71 loss Tuesday night at Penn State to fall to 15-12 overall and 5-11 in the Big Ten. The Cornhuskers were outscored 44-25 in the first half of the defeat. James Palmer Jr. paced Nebraska with 20 points on 7-of-20 shooting including 1-of-4 from 3-point range plus 9-of-13 at the free throw line. He also grabbed seven rebounds. Isaiah Roby tallied 17 points and five boards. Thomas Allen added 11 points, five assists and two caroms. The Cornhuskers shot 28-of-59 from the field, 6-of-18 from 3-point distance and 9-of-18 at the free throw line.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Purdue
The Boilermakers are 2-6-2 ATS in their last 10 Saturday games. Purdue is 1-3-1 ATS in its last five Big Ten games.
Nebraska
The Cornhuskers are 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games. Nebraska is 1-9 ATS in its last 10 games overall.
Prediction:
The Cornhuskers have been beaten up by injuries this season, but it wasn’t long ago this team had set a record for consecutive home victories. While the Boilermakers dominated 81-62 when these two teams met in West Lafayette, their last three road games have been shaky – overtime win at Penn State, loss at Maryland and a narrow win at Indiana. I don’t trust Purdue as favorites here against a Nebraska squad that has won its last two at home.
