Cornhuskers edged by Boilermakers
Purdue fell by a count of 75-72 at home Saturday against Nebraska to fall to 15-13 overall and 5-12 in the Big Ten Conference. The Cornhuskers trailed 38-36 at halftime in a contest that remained close throughout. Nebraska shot 25-of-61 from the floor, 8-of-23 on 3-point attempts and 14-of-17 at the free throw line. Glynn Watson Jr. paced the Cornhuskers with 25 points on 10-of-20 shooting including 8-of-23 from 3-point range plus 14-of-17 at the free throw line. He also pulled down four rebounds. James Palmer Jr. added 15 points, eight assists and four rebounds.
Wolverines falter against Spartans
Michigan lost at home by a count of 77-70 Sunday evening against rival Michigan State to drop to 24-4 overall and 13-4 in the Big Ten. The Wolverines were outscored 38-33 in the second half of the defeat. Michigan shot 23-of-58 from the field, 7-of-26 on 3-point attempts and 17-of-20 at the charity stripe. Zavier Simpson led the way with 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting including 2-of-7 from 3-point distance plus 3-of-4 at the free throw line. He also contributed five rebounds and two assists. Ignas Brazdeikis finished with 16 points and nine boards. Jordan Poole had 15 points and two dimes. Jon Teske added 10 points and 11 caroms.
College Basketball Betting Trends
The Cornhuskers are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 Big Ten games. Nebraska is 1-6 ATS in its last seven Thursday games.
The Wolverines are 6-2 ATS in their last eight home games. Michigan is 38-14-2 ATS in its last 54 Thursday games.
The Cornhuskers have been blown out in their last two road games, but I think they might be catching Michigan at a good time here. The Wolverines invested so much into Sunday’s game only to fall short and I can’t see the same energy being brought into this game against an average Nebraska team that has been hurt by injuries during Big Ten play. Nebraska showed in its game against Purdue that it still has fight left and I think it stays within the 12 points tonight.
