Truex Jr. gets win at Pocono
LONG POND, PA (TheSpread) – Martin Truex Jr. got a long-awaited win on Sunday, as he had the top car and drove away with the Axalta We Paint Winners 400.
Truex Jr. was having a great year, sitting second in the standings, but he couldn’t get to victory lane until today. On Sunday, Truex Jr. battled some fuel concerns, but eventually pulled away late from Kevin Harvick to get the victory and lock himself into the Chase for the Championship.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Truex Jr. came into this week with 15/1 odds to win the race, which means a wager of $100 to win will pay out an additional $1,500.
Harvick finished second to maintain his spot atop the standings. He has finished first or second in 10 of the 14 races this year. Jimmie Johnson was third on Sunday while Joey Logano and Kurt Busch rounded out the top 5. Harvick now has a 40 point lead on Truex for first while Johnson is 77 points back.
