Busch wins 2012 Richmond 400
RICHMOND, VA (TheSpread) –One day after his brother Kurt Busch won the Nationwide Series race on Friday night, Kyle Busch took home the checkered flag in the 2012 Richmond 400.
It’s been 20 races season Kyle Busch last won a Sprint Cut race. He passed Tony Stewart with 13 laps remaining and held off a late push by Dale Earnhardt Jr. to win in Richmond on Saturday. Earnhardt when on to finish second while Stewart placed third and Denny Hamlin came in fourth. Kasey Kahne rounded out the rest of the top 5 with a fifth-place finish.
According to oddsmakers, Busch had 5/1 odds to win Saturday night’s race, meaning a $100 wager on him to prevail will pay out an additional $500. Hamlin was also 5/1 entering Saturday’s race while Carl Edwards was 6/1. Kevin Harvick and Jeff Gordon were both 7/1 to win, respectively, while Stewart and Jimmie Johnson were both 10/1, respectively. Kahne was 12/1 while Earnhardt was 15/1 to win the 2012 Richmond 400.
Greg Biffle remains on top of the Sprint Cup leaderboard with 338 points, while Earnhardt is second with 333 points. Hamlin is third with 329 points, Matt Kenseth is fourth with 328 pounds, Martin Truex Jr. is fifth with 316 points while Johnson is sixth with 314 points. Kyle Busch is currently 11th with 265 points.
