Khane starts up front
Kasey Kahne won the qualifying for the 2010 Toyota/Save Mart 350 and will start up front in Sunday’s race.
Kahne will lead the pack in the first road race of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, but road veteran Marcos Ambrose is now favored to win it all.
Ambrose has 4/1 odds to win according to odds makers at the online sports book BroburySports.com. Other short odds to win are Tony Stewart (5/1), Jeff Gordon (6/1), and Juan Pablo Montoya (8/1).
Ambrose is considered a road specialist, though he has not won this event. His average finish on this track is 22.5 and his driver rating 99.6. Ambrose is currently 30th in the point standings.
Stewart qualified seventh for Sunday and he has won two times at this track and also has four top 5’s. Stewart has an average finish of 9.3 at the track with a driver rating of 113.2, which is tops of any driver in the series. Stewart is currently 11th in the standings, 329 points outside of first place.
Gordon has five career wins at Infineon along with 10 top 5’s. Gordon’s average finish is 9.3 and his driver rating is 97.1. Gordon is currently seventh in the standings and he is winless in 2010. Gordon will start fifth in this race.
Montoya won at Infineon in 2007 and he has finished sixth the last two years. Montoya also finished in the top six at Watkins Glen the last two years. Watkins Glen is the other road course the series competes in. Montoya has struggled this year, as he sits 20th in the standings, but his driver rating at Infineon is 111.3, which is second best in the series, and his average finish is 4.3. He will start 14th on Sunday.
Kahne’s odds to win are now at 9/1 after his pole victory.
The Toyota/Save Mart 350 will take place Sunday, June 20 from Infineon Raceway at 3:19PM ET. For complete odds and track information on this year’s event, see below.
