From Rotoworld: Scherzer held the Brewers to one run over six innings Thursday for his 12th win of the season. Scherzer was staked to a big early lead in the eventual 15-2 rout and he carved his way easily through Milwaukee’s batting order, scattering three hits and three walks while striking out nine. The one run he gave up came on a solo shot by Travis Shaw in the top of the fourth inning, with the count at 3-0. Scherzer stands 12-5 with a brilliant 2.23 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, and 201/36 K/BB ratio in 145 1/3 innings this season. Up next for the ace right-hander is a road start against the Marlins.

O’Grady fired seven shutout innings Thursday, scattering five hits and two walks en route to a 4-1 win over the Reds. Well, that came out of nowhere. After allowing three runs in each of his first three starts — and failing to make it out of the sixth inning in any of them — the southpaw kept the Reds in check all night. He benefited from five strikeouts compared to just the two walks. With Thursday’s showing, the 27-year-old owns a 3.68 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in four games. A stiffer test will surely come Tuesday when O’Grady draws the division-rival Nationals.
