The start for Oakland will go to Kendall Graveman (4-4, 4.24 ERA), while Los Angeles counters with Parker Bridwell (7-2, 2.89). Graveman enters with a 1.40 WHIP and 51 strikeouts in 74 1/3 innings. He was strong in his last start, giving up one earned run on nine hits with six strikeouts over seven innings in a 3-1 home win over the Rangers. Graveman has a 6.39 ERA in 31 road innings. Bridwell has a 1.15 WHIP with 52 strikeouts in 84 innings. The Angels had won eight of his starts in a row before his last outing, where he gave up two earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts over seven innings in a 2-1 home loss to the Astros. He has a 3.56 ERA in 48 home innings.
Oakland has a 58-74 record and is 21-43 on the road, while Los Angeles comes in at 68-65 and 37-31 at home. The Angels won the first two games of the series including Tuesday’s 8-2 victory and have won six of the last 10 meetings. The over-under is 5-5 in the 10 games.
On Tuesday, C.J. Cron hit two home runs and had four RBIs to lead Los Angeles. Ben Revere was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Cameron Maybin had a hit and scored two runs. Martin Maldonado added a solo home run. Jesse Chavez threw four innings of one-hit relief to pick up the win. Matt Joyce and Matt Olson each hit a solo home run for the Athletics. Jed Lowrie added two hits. Chris Smith suffered the loss as he gave up seven runs (six earned) over 3 2/3 innings.
Bridwell might be pitching with some luck on his side, but ride him while he’s hot. He’s also in a pitcher’s park and going against a team that is one of the worst in baseball on the road.
